Under 40 Forum 2017

"Fractured Arkansas"

March 2, 2017 · 12:00 PM – Mar 3, 2017 · 1:00 PM

The Under 40 Forum returned after a successful inaugural year in 2016. Each year, the two-day Forum invites "40 Under 40" honorees as designated by Arkansas Business and the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal to engage in facilitated discussions of key issues that are important to Arkansas. We also give these young leaders ample opportunity to network and make meaningful connections that we expect will benefit our state.

The theme of this year's Forum was "Fractured Arkansas." We asked the Under 40 Leaders in attendance to consider the various barriers that keep Arkansas divided - be they geographic, social or political.

These facilitated discussions resulted in a report produced by the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute (see link on the side of this page). This report, full of reflections and recommendations from the Under 40 Leaders on how to address the barriers that hold Arkansas back, was distributed to political, business and community leaders throughout the state.

The report from the 2016 Under 40 Forum, which addressed recruitment and retention of young talent, can be found here.

Gov. Mike Beebe

Kicking off this year's Forum was a keynote address from former Arkansas Gov. Mike Beebe, who as governor from 2007-2015 consistently championed the concept that success in one part of the state breeds success in other parts of the state.

Also addressing the Forum was Rex Nelson, then-senior vice president and director of corporate communications for Simmons First National Bank.
