APD: Watercolor at Petit Jean
May 22, 2016 · 5:00 PM – May 29, 2016 · 10:00 AM
Offered in conjunction with the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Department of Art, this course provided students the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of watercolor and methods of painting outdoors while living and working at the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute, located on beautiful Petit Jean Mountain. Students were led through demonstrations, lectures and individual instruction with the intent to discover and embrace the versatility of watercolor painting. Part of the Institute’s Arts on the Mountain programming, students learned to investigate the landscape around them by painting on location. Locations included the boathouse on Lake Abby, the Heritage Farmstead, Archeological Survey Station (with select artifacts), wooded Lake Elsie and Petit Jean State Park.
